Job Description

The Heathrow Shared Apprenticeship Scheme is one of the UK’s most exciting apprenticeship programmes. The scheme provides career changing opportunities for residents close to the airport.

An apprentice cyber security technician is responsible for monitoring and detecting security threats utilising a range of tools and techniques. They support the business by evaluating security solutions, implementing security policies, and help the business respond to phishing, malware, breaches, and other security incidents. The Technician will also be responsible for the installation and upkeep of IT software, access controls, firewalls, security incident and event management tools (SIEM) protection tools (Anti-virus, Anti-malware, Anti-spam).

Duties may include:

· Applying procedures and controls to maintain security and control of an organisation;

· Contribute to the production and development of security culture across an organisation including assisting with the promotion of cyber security awareness programmes;

· Process cyber security helpdesk requests ensuring confidentiality, integrity and availability of digital information, meeting relevant legal and regulatory requirements;

· Conduct the installation and maintenance of technical security controls;

· Monitor, identify, report and escalate information security incidents and events;

· Conduct regular review of access rights to digital information assets;

· Administer Cryptographic techniques to secure confidential data;

· Managing risk assessments;

· Document incident and event information;

· Monitor cyber security compliance and provide relevant data to auditors.

Typical Working Week

40 hours p/w with start time typically between 07:00 & 08:00 inclusive of paid 8 hours at college.

Person Specification

· Proactive approach, taking pride in their work and taking accountability for decisions.

· A love of variety in a role and ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced working environment

· Ability to quickly prioritise tasks and the initiative to dive head-first into problem solving

· No two days are the same on the front line and not every day goes to plan, so you’ll need to be quick on your feet to respond!

· Excellent communication and collaboration skills and enjoy working with multiple teams

· Ability to analyse and interpret information and effectively communicate this to different team members and audiences

· Ability to visit different sites and training days

· Curiosity to learn quickly in a reactive and dynamic working environment.

· Ability to work in all weather conditions to serve our customers and protect the environment

· Able to understand and follow health and safety protocols

Qualifications required/desirable

Minimum Requirements

English and Maths at GCSE Grade 4 / C or above, or Functional Skills at Level 2 or above.

Desired Requirements

A high interest in securing data, preventing breaches and attacks, and utilising a range of IT and physical tools and processes to support personal and business safety.

Key Training/College Information

K10 will enrol you to the Level 3 Cyber Security course and fund your qualifications through an accredited training provider.

The apprenticeship duration is 18 months.

Eligibility

To start this apprenticeship, you’ll need to be:

· Living in England for the last 3 years and have right to work status

· Not enrolled on any other courses

· 18+ due to site H&S rules

To be eligible for the Heathrow Shared Apprenticeship Scheme, you must reside in one of the following regions:
