An Information Communication Technician (ICT) Apprentice plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and control of IT and telecommunications infrastructure. This role involves monitoring, maintaining, and supporting digital systems to optimise business performance, security, and sustainability. ICT apprentices provide technical support, diagnose and resolve ICT issues, and contribute to the development and maintenance of IT systems.
Duties typically include:
- Provide technical support to internal and external customers via various communication channels.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot ICT problems and faults using appropriate methodologies and tools.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software systems.
- Apply security policies and procedures in line with organisational requirements.
- Communicate technical issues and solutions to stakeholders with varying levels of technical knowledge.
- Monitor and report ICT system performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Document support tasks, findings, and actions taken to ensure a clear audit trail.
- Participate in system upgrades, testing, and rollouts of new applications.
- Support and maintain cloud-based services and virtual networks.
- Implement backup and disaster recovery procedures to protect data integrity.

Typical Working Week
40 hours p/w with start time between 07:00 & 08:00 inclusive of paid 8 hours at college.

Qualifications required/desirable
English and Maths at GCSE Grade 4 / C or above, or Functional Skills at Level 2 or above.

K10 will enrol you to the course and fund your qualifications through an accredited training provider.
This apprenticeship follows the Level 3 Information Communication Technician (ICT) standard, lasting approximately 18 months.
Eligibility
To start this apprenticeship, you’ll need to be:
- Living in England for the last 3 years and have right to work status
- Not enrolled on any other courses
- 18+ due to site H&S rules
- Not hold a higher qualification in the same field.
To be eligible for the Heathrow Shared Apprenticeship Scheme, you must reside in one of the following regions:
